Church Consultation Meeting – Sunday 21st January
After service on Sunday 21st January there will be an opportunity to stay and join in some conversations about the church. We will share the latest thinking on the potential for Phase 2 of redevelopment and seek your views. Paul Ashley, our treasurer, will make a presentation about the church’s finances.
Some of the questions for us to think about include :
What difference has the refurbishment in Phase 1 made to us?
Would it be a good idea to build a new coffee shop facility? Why?
In what ways do we think a coffee shop might help the church to grow?
And then we might have a bit of time to share any other thoughts / ideas / questions about the life of our church community.
Bring some lunch with you if you feel you would like to – we will aim to be finished by about 1pm. All ages welcome!

An idea from Ian for Lent
I have a copy of the BBC TV series from 2008, ‘The Passion’. I’d like to invite you to watch the 4 episodes with me, munch on some popcorn (or something quieter) and talk about what we’ve seen. The idea would be to arrange some evenings in the weeks leading up to Easter, and to get comfortable in the chapel for an hour or two instead of on a sofa at home. Please let me know if you would be interested? Probably Tuesday or Thursday evenings.

Harry Holroyd
With sadness we have been sharing news of the death of our friend, Harry Holroyd. The family’s notice about his death and the funeral arrangements is available separately.

Thursday Fellowship
Everyone is welcome to come along - the next two meetings will be:
Thursday 18th January at 2.30pm. Revd Colin Smith will be speaking.
Thursday 15th February at 2.30pm. Speaker to be confirmed.

Circuit Service at Chesterton – Sunday 4th March at 5pm – a note from Ian
Many of us know that groups of local Methodist churches are organized into ‘Circuits’. Our Circuit includes churches in Cambridge, Royston and surrounding towns/villages. One thing we all share in is occasional worship services on a Sunday afternoon or evening. On Sunday 4th March there will be a Circuit service here at Chesterton at 5pm.  We will be serving refreshments before the service from 4.15pm.

This will be an opportunity for some people to see the premises for the first time since the refurbishments and to thank God for the way the circuit’s support has enabled developments at CMC. We will have a morning service as usual on that day so I understand that some people may only make one of the services. It would be good to have a significant presence at the 5pm service to welcome our visitors. Does anyone feel like making cakes??

Who is using the church premises?  (Another note from Ian)
Just to keep you informed….
‘Cambridge Convoy Refugee Action Group’ (CamCRAG) returned to use the Octagon at the beginning of January to make more Ponchos for refugees in Northern France.
Cambridge Alliance for Independent Living are now beginning to hold meetings for their staff and for their partnership boards.
Conversations with another charity are progressing well and I am hopeful that this will become a significant partnership for the church.
Chesterton Choral Society have decided to return to CMC for some of their concerts!

Circuit Safeguarding Training sessions will again be held here
