October 2018

This month we say WELCOME to Headway Cambridgeshire as they create their new rehabilitation hub here at CMC, meeting every Thursday and Friday.

Our harvest thanksgiving service will be held on Sunday 7th October. Everyone is invited to join in the celebration, and we will be collecting gifts to pass on to the Cambridge City Foodbank who run a distribution centre here at CMC every Tuesday.

A list of items which the foodbank needs can be found by going to the foodbank page of the church website. At the moment it’s food rather than toiletries which are needed.

With friends from St. Andrew’s and St. George’s we are running a holiday club for primary school age children during the October half-term. Publicity and registration forms are available at the church or by contacting Deacon Ian. It’s going to be lots of fun!  Monday 22nd to Wednesday 24th October.

(The meeting in November will be on 20th)

Harvest Festival
Please remember that you can support either the foodbank (by bringing tinned/packet food etc) or there will be an opportunity to support All We Can (the Methodist relief and development agency) with gifts of money – envelopes available at the church throughout October.

Remembrance Sunday
2018 marks the 100th Anniversary of the end of the first world war. There will be many special events around the country to mark this. In Chesterton there will be a special event on Remembrance Sunday at the memorial in St. Andrew’s Churchyard.

AT CMC we will be meeting at 10am (earlier than usual) for a shorter service than usual, for all ages. Everyone is then invited to make the short journey round to St. Andrew’s Church in time for 11am.  More publicity will be available in the coming weeks and we will be thinking about how we walk / cycle / drive, enabling everyone to take part if they wish to.
